The standard of good coregistration

  • MNE version: 1.0.0
  • operating system: Windows 10

Hi! guys,
Today I’m trying to do the coregistration in mne coreg GUI using BEM from watershed algorithm. I found there are both white and black circular patch with different sizes. I guess the patches with white color mean that they didn’t attach to the scalp, there’s still some distance between the patch and the scalp. While the black patches mean that they already attach to the scalp, which is a sign of good coregistration? So a good coregistration is to get as many black patches as possible?
But I cannot figure out what the size of these circle patches stands for?

In addition, I found that the MRI fiducials I specified were not overlapping with the fiducials obtained from the MEG digitizer pen strictly (e.g., RPA), do I need to modify the locations of the MRI fiducials to make them overlap with the fiducials from the MEG digitizer pen as close as possible, and then click the ‘Fit fiducials’ and ‘Fit ICP’?

Thank you, guys!  You really help me out a lot!
Best

hi,

white means it’s outside of the skin and black means inside. If the coreg is good
you should have all dig points close to the skin and some white and some black.
Also their size tell you how far they are from the skin.

here your coreg seems pretty good
