Use of Maxwell filtering with 4-D Neuroimaging / BTI data

External Email - Use Caution

Dear all,

Does anyone have experience of the use of Maxwell filter with 4-D
Neuroimaging / BTI data? Is there something specific e.g. with the
parameters that I should take into account if I apply Maxwell filter to 4-D
Neuroimaging / BTI data, or would it be better not to use Maxwell filter?
The mne python documentation says " Use of Maxwell filtering routines with
non-Elekta systems is currently experimental. Worse results for non-Elekta
systems are expected due to (at least):

   - Missing fine-calibration and cross-talk cancellation data for other
   systems.
   - Processing with reference sensors has not been vetted.
   - Regularization of components may not work well for all systems.
   - Coil integration has not been optimized using Abramowitz/Stegun
   definitions."

Are there any updates to this information?

Best,
Maria

I have not done much testing with BTi system data, but it's on the to-do
list (so the bullet points of caveats have not changed). Please feel free
to try and see how it works for your data. You might try setting
`ignore_ref=True`, I seem to remember someone working with BTi data and
having this be the case (though I could be wrong about this).

Thank you Eric! I will try that!
