Preprocessing and EDA Analysis with GSR-Channel

  • MNE version: 1.5.1
  • operating system: Windows 10 (Version 22H2)

Hello there,

I am currently working on an EDA analysis of a skin conductance channel that was recorded parallel to the EEG (brand: BioSemi). Unfortunately, the MNE site did not tell me which preprocessing is appropriate for the GSR channel. The goal would be an event-related visualization of the phasic skin conductance (comparable to ERP for EEG channels).

My ideas for a solution were first to change the GSR channel as an EEG channel and thus use the “classic” pipeline for ERP, but there are no preprocessing algorithms for skin conductance as in NeuroKit2.

My second thought would be to convert the channel into an array and then continue working with NeuroKit2, but there are always error messages for the events because they overlap from time to time.

My questions would be:
Does anyone have experience with EDA analysis of skin conductance in MNE, because I couldn’t find anything like this on the MNE site or on the internet.

Best regards and thank you in advance,
Patryk

Hello @ptrkmrk and welcome to the forum!

I would suggest to process your GSR data in NeuroKit2. I’m not sure about the problem with your events; maybe you can ask the NeuroKit2 folks for guidance?

Best wishes,
Richard

MNE is primarly dedicated to MEG and EEG.
It does support other channel types, at least for storage/visualization, but processing is usually limited on those other channel types.
