How to start work on EEG siglas?

Hi, I am student in Tampere University, I want to learn, how to make analysis on EEG signals. I will start from ABC of this field. Kindly guide me. On youtube I saw lot of videos, but get confuse. Recommend me any material or channel that could guide me from basics. I have files in .bdf format, Matlab processed .mat format, data processed phython .dat format files.

Hi,

I think you are not really asking the right question. EEG signal analysis varies (a lot) depending on what you want to do, that is:

  1. what is the underlying hypothesis you are interested in,
  2. what kind of data do you have available - what kind of experiments does the data correspond to.

Once you have figured this out, it will be a lot easier to look for scientific articles, tutorials, books, and generally resources specifically for your use case.

Start from there and then move on to other questions / data. That’s how you’ll acquire knowledge and skills over time. It’s gonna be a long process, that’s for sure!

Cheers,

Hi Umair,

I would suggest you start with the material of Mike Cohen, especially his ANTS course (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukjuFUghieg&list=PLn0OLiymPak0t1moK3sn4Sl1seXlEOPHT). This gives you a nice overview of EEG from the basics to the more advanced analysis and why we do those. After that, start with the tutorials on MNE and then try to reproduce the analysis using your data.

Kind regards,
Steven
