Fiducials misalignment and air-space between EEG sensors and head while doing a coregistration

Hello!

I have some questions regarding EEG-MRI coregistration: I am trying to fit the digitized EEG sensors to the MRI of the subject and this is the result:

When I try to align the fiducials, the sensors seem to be floating above the head. Thus, I need to modify the Z-axis. My questions are:

  1. Is this fiducial misalignment a sign that there is something wrong with my registration?
  2. After modifying the Z-axis, the sensors’ position looks OK, but they are still not touching the skin. By following the tutorial slides, I saw that the sensors there neatly fit the head. Again, does this air-space between the sensors and the skin mean that there is something wrong with my coregistration? Would it affect the source localization down the line?

Thanks in advance.
