Post-doctoral fellowship position(s) at the Martinos Center (MGH, Harvard
Medical School, Boston)

Overview: Applications are invited for up to two open NIH funded
Postdoctoral Research Fellow Positions at the Massachusetts General
Hospital Athinoula A. Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging in Boston, MA
(www.nmr.mgh.harvard.edu). The postdoctoral fellows will also be
affiliated with Harvard Medical School. The successful candidates will
have the opportunity to apply state of the art neurophysiological analysis
approaches to a wide range of open questions in cognitive and
developmental neuroscience, spanning speech processing, visual and
auditory spatial attention, visual search, multi-modal sensory processing,
and cortical maturation trajectories, in both typical development and
abnormal development associated with autism spectrum disorders (ASD),
using MEG/EEG data.

Responsibilities: Open projects in the lab include using auditory and
visual spatial attention paradigms to study directional functional
connectivity abnormalities in ASD, developing sensory-based and
resting-state based biomarkers for ASD and related disorders, the normal
and abnormal maturation of cortical resting state networks, and functional
connectivity during auditory processing of speech versus non-speech
stimuli in ASD versus typical development. The scope of studies will span
questions that are already defined, alongside a wide breadth for novel,
creative, interesting questions. The responsibilities will include the
analyses of already existing novel and rich data sets, including speech
processing data and resting state data, as well as collecting and
analyzing new data for recently funded grants (visual and auditory spatial
attention), the implementation of well-tested as well as novel analyses
methods, and working closely with the MNE team at the Martinos Center, led
by Professor Matti H?m?l?inen, to apply the latest software developments
to MEG/EEG data analyses with a focus on novel applications of the methods
to old and new neuroscience questions! Contributions to analysis tools are
encouraged and welcomed! The positions will also involve collecting
combined EEG/MEG and MRI data from with adolescents and young adults,
including some with autism spectrum disorders. Other responsibilities
include the preparation of manuscripts, writing of grants, and development
and implementation of new paradigms.

Requirements: Candidates should have a Doctoral degree in a relevant
field, such as neuroscience, experimental psychology, or similar. A
multidisciplinary degree in fields such as biomedical engineering, applied
mathematics, computer science, combined with experience in applications to
neuroscience, is also highly welcomed. Candidates must have extensive
experience with electrophysiological signal processing, and while previous
experience in acquiring and analyzing MEG/EEG data is a strength, it is
not a requirement; extensive experience with related signal processing
applications such as invasive neurophysiological data for instance is also
highly welcomed. Familiarity with MEG/EEG and MRI analysis software
packages, in particular MNE, Brainstorm and FreeSurfer is preferred, but
not a requirement. Strong programming skills are a requirement, and
experience with Python in particular is desirable. Lastly, and perhaps
obviously, creativity, curiosity, drive, and general love of
neuroscience!!
