MNE-Python Summer Proposal

Summer of Code - MNE-Python Project Proposal

Introduction

Dear Mentors,

My name is Ismael Sallami Moreno, and I am currently in my third year of Computer Engineering and Business Administration at the University of Granada. I am eager to contribute to MNE-Python this summer and collaborate with experienced mentors to enhance my skills in Python, neuroscience data analysis, and open-source development.

About Me

I have a strong background in programming and data analysis, with Python being my strongest language. I am also proficient in C++, C, Java, Bash, and LaTeX. My interests include artificial intelligence, biomedical informatics, and neuroscience. I am highly motivated to apply AI techniques to neural signal processing and healthcare applications.

I maintain a personal blog on GitHub Pages (“ismael-sallami.github.io”), where I document my individual and collaborative projects. Additionally, I am currently preparing for a C1 English certification, with the goal of achieving C2 in the near future.

Why MNE-Python?

MNE-Python is an essential tool for EEG and MEG analysis, and I am eager to contribute to its development. My primary interests in this field include:

  • Enhancing Data Analysis Capabilities: Improving existing functions for more efficient EEG/MEG data processing.
  • AI-Driven Enhancements: Implementing machine learning techniques for better neuroimaging analysis.
  • Improving Documentation: Making tutorials more accessible to new users and expanding real-world use cases.
  • Visualization Enhancements: Optimizing plotting functions for better usability and interpretation.

These projects align with my passion for AI, neuroscience, and ethical AI applications in health. I believe AI has the potential to revolutionize healthcare, and I want to be part of that transformation.

Next Steps

I would love to discuss potential projects with mentors to align my contributions with the current needs of MNE-Python. Please let me know how I can proceed further!

Looking forward to collaborating.

Best regards,
Ismael Sallami Moreno

Hi @Ismael-Sallami, we’ve already corresponded via email, so I’ll just say here that I’m sorry I didn’t notice your forum post sooner.

Dear Dan McCloy,

Thank you for your response. I appreciate the opportunity to contribute to MNE-Python.

As you suggested, I have been further exploring the project and familiarizing myself with MNE-Python’s codebase, documentation, and open issues. If there are any specific areas or tasks that would be helpful for me to focus on, I would love your guidance on how to best align my proposal with the project’s current needs.

Additionally, if there are any resources or example contributions that you recommend reviewing, I would be happy to go through them to refine my approach.

I have already submitted my proposal to Google Summer of Code and I’m really looking forward to being part of the project.

Looking forward to your insights!

Best regards,
Ismael Sallami Moreno
