I think the feature you're looking for was added to the nightly build some
time after 2.7.3.

Like Andy mentioned, this is possible in the latest nightly build; it's not
possible in earlier versions.
A way to do it in the older versions (if you don't want to update your
version) is to rewrite the triggers and create a new .eve. file. For
instance, if you want to combine 41, 42, 43, and 44, and your .eve file was
originally
41
44
42
41
43
etc....
then just change it (using MATLAB, Excel, or whatever other program is
convenient for you) to

4
4
4
4
etc.
(or any other number; it doesn't matter what the code is, as long as
they're the same).

Just to say that we have now tried the nightly build (2.7.4) and it
averages over multiple events no problem.
