Subject: Introduction & Inquiry About MNE-Python GSoC Project
Hello MNE Community,
My name is Muhammad Fodio Sani, and I am excited to participate in Google Summer of Code (GSoC) 2025 under the Python Software Foundation. I have a background in statistics, data visualization, and software development, and I am passionate about contributing to open-source projects that support scientific research.
For my GSoC project, I have selected “Enhancing MNE-Python’s Raw Data Browser Using PyQtGraph.” This project aims to improve the usability and performance of MNE’s raw data visualization by integrating PyQtGraph for faster rendering, adding an overview bar for better navigation, and improving UI controls for enhanced interactivity.
I have gone through the mne-qt-browser documentation and previous discussions related to this feature, and I have a few questions:
-
Are there any ongoing efforts related to PyQtGraph integration, and are there specific challenges to be aware of?
-
What are the key performance bottlenecks in the current raw data browser that need the most attention?
-
Do you have any suggestions or additional features that could make this project more valuable to MNE users?
I am looking forward to working with the MNE community and learning from your expertise. Any guidance or feedback would be greatly appreciated!
Best regards,
Muhammad Fodio Sani
