How to handle multiple bad segments in a long continuous signal for artifact correction with ICA

External Email - Use Caution

Dear Group,

I want to clean the artifact in a long continuous EEG signal. The recording
is about 1.5 hours.

However, there are multiple bad segments within the signals and have been
marked as bad using the mne annot tool.

But I am not sure whether I should mark these segments as bad before ICA.

Appreciate for advice.

Yes, definitely exclude bad segments before doing ICA! Otherwise your
ICA will be slower and the decomposition worse because the bad segments
will waste components (of which there is a fixed maximum number).
