Hii everyone,
I’m Lifeng, a Biomedical AI Master’s graduate from UCL and a CS Bachelor’s from the University of Manchester. I’m currently a visiting student at Tsinghua University researching bio-inspired AI, and I’ll be starting my PhD this autumn.
I have used Python extensively for data engineering and modeling, including a year-long industry placement as a Bioinformatics and ML Intern. While I am new to contributing to MNE-Python, this isn’t my first encounter with the library. I first encountered it during my Bachelor’s thesis on EEG Motor Imagery. At the time, I stubbornly decided to built my own processing pipeline from scratch—an experience that hint me the time and effort an established framework would save for researchers!
I am particularly interested in Project 2 (Utilize event system for brain and evoked plots). Given my interest in EEG-based BCI and decoding, I’m keen to help bridge the gap between time-domain and spatial-domain visualizations. I’m excited to finally “give back” to the open-source community that has supported my education while learning about professional-grade software maintenance and design.
I’m currently setting up my local development environment and browsing the issue tracker for a small contribution to get started.
Looking forward to the process!
Best,
