It’s not really that subjective. ICs representing ocular activity are so stereotypical that it’s really hard to miss them. Also, only because you use a certain algorithm doesn’t mean that it is not subjective anymore.

I am not sure what kind of algorithm is implemented in BESA. ICA results i.e., decomposition can be data specific especially how you tune the parameters. Plus noise level of your data is a big factor. But I would still say its an established/reliable method to remove EOG activity. If you are not happy with the method, rather give it a try with other alternative methods like SSP/regression.
If you don’t know how to tune the ICA, try to follow the tutorials/documentations for the best practice. In other way if something is wrong, its always nice that you provide us some code snippets at least so that we can have a look to guide you.
