# Getting data from a single channel

my cnt has 5 chs EEG, How can get only one chs data?

Sorry for the late reply … this is easy to do in two steps:

1. read the data: [Importing data from EEG devices — MNE 1.0.3 documentation](https://mne.tools/stable/auto_tutorials/io/20_reading_eeg_data.html?highlight=brainvision#neuroscan-cnt-cnt)
2. use the `get_data` method and the `picks` parameter: [mne.io.Raw — MNE 1.0.3 documentation](https://mne.tools/stable/generated/mne.io.Raw.html?highlight=get_data#mne.io.Raw.get_data)
