Dear MNE community,

I have a task to combine data from two different datasets. One of them was collected with standard 10-10 system, and the other one with EGI Hydrogel caps. I have found the file matching 10-10 and Hydrogel electrode coordinates ([https://www.egi.com/images/HydroCelGSN\_10-10.pdf](https://www.egi.com/images/HydroCelGSN_10-10.pdf)), but I am a little bit confused with what to do next. Should I manually create the new montage file with the replaced coordinates and just apply it to EGI files? Or what is the correct way to map HydroGel to 10-10 system?

Thank you in advance for your help!

You could try to use one of our built-in GSN montages. To get a list of available montages, use [`get_builtin_montages()`](https://mne.tools/stable/generated/mne.channels.get_builtin_montages.html#mne.channels.get_builtin_montages).

Best wishes,
Richard

Thank you, Richard!

It will help to work with EGI data alone, but the problem still remians on how to combine data with the EEG from 10-10 system. EGI offers some matching so that you can use see which of their electrodes are placed closely to the location of 10-10 system. Can I just rename these electrodes to their matching types?

Best,
Ilya

Yes you can probably simply rename those electrodes if they are in the approximately correct locations.

Best wishes,
Richard
